A standard manuscript page is 250 words (for poetry, about 20 lines). This is left over from the days of typewriters. A typed page, in 12-point type with one-inch margins, the lines double-spaced, has about 250 words. It's convenient to have some standard, and that's as good as any.What's a page?
This standard manuscript page has exactly nothing to do with a printed page in a book, or a page of your manuscript. It's just a useful fiction.
That gives you a pretty close figure. I'll tell you the exact amount after I get your manuscript.
